Frequently Asked Questions

Scan this list to find your question about the Provider Benefit Tool.

To make it easier to access a member’s information, you can search by ID number or name and date of birth. Note: All members who are eligible within the policy will be displayed in the results with either type of search.

Search by ID number:

  1. Click the “Search” tab
  2. Enter the subscriber ID, social security number, or medicaid ID
  3. Click the “Search” button
  4. Eligibility information is displayed

Search by name and date of birth:

  1. Click the “Search” tab
  2. Click “Patient Lookup”
  3. Enter the patient’s last name and date of birth (both fields are required)
  4. Click the “Search” button
  5. Eligibility information is displayed

To quickly view information on a claim’s status or processing information, you can search for the individual claim rather than viewing the entire remittance advice.

To search by subscriber ID number:

  1. Click the “Search” tab
  2. Enter the subscriber ID, social security number, or Medicaid ID
  3. Click the “Search” button
  4. Eligibility information is displayed
  5. Click on the correct patient name
  6. Click on the applicable claim
  7. The claim will be displayed

To search using the claim number (ID):

  1. Click on the “Search” tab
  2. Enter the 12-digit Claim ID
  3. Click the “Search” button
  4. A high-level summary of the claim will be displayed

To search using the member’s name and date of birth:

  1. Click on the “Search” tab
  2. Click “Patient Lookup”
  3. Enter the patient’s last name and date of birth (both fields are required)
  4. Click the “Search” button
    • All eligible members on the subscriber’s policy will be displayed
  5. Click on the correct patient’s name
    • A summary of the patient’s claims for your provider or clinic will be displayed
  6. Click on the applicable claim
  7. Claim details will be displayed
  • Processed, Awaiting Payment Run: Complete but pending final check run
  • Processing Complete: Complete; payment finalized
  • Logged; Awaiting Processing: Received and loaded into billing system; pending processing
  • Pended; Awaiting Processing: Pending review or in process; could be assigned to specific processing queues
  • Pended with Errors: Errors exist; pending review and processing
  • Adjusted; Processed: Original claim corrected or split and has a new claim number
  • Adjusted; Pre-priced: N/A

To quickly view processing or detailed information for a particular payment, view a remittance advice (RA) in the Provider Benefit Tool.

To search using the check reference ID number:

  1. Click the “Search” tab
  2. Enter the check reference ID in the “ID Number” field rather than the subscriber’s ID
  3. Click the “Search” Button
  4. High-level details of the RA (e.g., statement date, check number, check amount) will be displayed

To download or print a copy of the remittance advice:

  1. Perform a quick search or patient lookup
  2. In the claims section, click on the remittance advice number you want to review
  3. To print, select the print button to print out high-level details of the RA
  4. To download, select the “View Remittance” button and select the download button in the top right corner of the pop-up window to download a copy to the folder of your choice

Also available to view on this screen:

  • Patient ID - Displays an overview of the member’s policy, including deductibles, accumulators, and visit limits; claims for the specific patient with your office; and a link to policy details in the Medical Payment Summary (MPS)
  • Claim ID - Displays details of the particular claim, including procedure codes billed; amounts charged, allowed, and paid by the plan; member cost-share amounts; and any claim-processing message codes
  • Remittance advice schedule

To easily search for all of a provider’s claims within a given date range, you can enter the parameters and view a complete summary.

  1. Click the “Search” tab
  2. Click “Browse Claims”
  3. Enter the dates of service range (from and to dates)
  4. Click the “Search” button
  5. The list of the provider’s claims for the date range specified is displayed

To protect the security of our providers, clinic staff can only view the data of providers practicing under the designated Tax ID number(s).

View a list of providers to whose data you have access:

  1. Click on your name on any screen within the Provider Benefit Tool
  2. Select “My Profile”
  3. To view specific provider data, click “Providers”, “Provider Groups”, or “Facilities”

Our Provider Benefit Tool uses the same username as all other secure Select Health and Intermountain online systems.

Retrieve your forgotten username, password or 2-Step authentication

  • Click on https://account.intermountain.net/welcome
  • Click the necessary reset option link
  • Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the reset
  • If you need additional assistance, call the help desk at 801-442-7979, option 2

Our Provider Benefit Tool allows you to easily attach documents to a claim that requires additional documentation.

Attach documents to a claim:

  1. Find a claim in the “Processing Complete” status and navigate to its details. This will also work for Select Health Advantage (Medicare) claims in the “Processed, Awaiting Payment Run” status
  2. Click on the “Claim ID”
  3. Click “Upload Attachments”
    • JPEG, JPG, GIF, PNG, PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, TXT documents are accepted
    • Maximum individual file size is 15 MB
  4. Drag your files to the upload box OR click the upload box to browse for your files
  5. Choose the appropriate “Document Type”
  6. Type relevant notes for the claim
  7. Click “Attach to Claim”

View documents attached to a claim:

  1. Find a claim in the “Processing Complete” status and navigate to its details. This will also work for Select Health Advantage (Medicare) claims in the “Processed, Awaiting Payment Run” status
  2. Click on the “Claim ID”
  3. Scroll down and view uploaded documents in the Attachments section
